Black Copper Marans

I've gone over whether to be honest and leave this review or not. She seems nice and I hate doing this. But I need to let people know. These were not the best birds. Eggs were light. I received several very small eggs. 8 of the 13. The hatch rate were 4 of 13. Fertilization was 5 of 13. I hatch around 1000 chicks a year. One hatched with no eyes. One had extra toes. I am concerned about the genetics. I understand they don't give refunds. I didn't complain. I feel bad for her. She is very busy and stressed. I didn't want to add to that. I don't feel it's been fair to me, though. Of 13 eggs, 1 died in shell (common to BCM). 1 had no eyes. 1 had extra toes and 2 were very small. 8 were not fertilized, small pullet eggs. They were cracked open day 10. Positives: She does send 13 on a shipment. Packaging was A+. She answers communication within a reasonable time. I see many positive reviews from people who have not had the same experience I had. I can respect that.

K&L Farms filled an order of mine for black copper Marans and Welsummer eggs. I’m beyond pleased with the deep color of the BCM eggs and speckles from the Welsummer eggs. They are in the incubator and fingers crossed they hatch well because these genetics need to be passed on. Thank you Kayla!! I’ll order again and again!

7 eggs sent. 4 hatched. There would have been 5 but I accidentally dropped one. It was terrible. All the chicks are very healthy and strong.
