Leverett Hook and Eye Closure PDF Sewing Pattern

I don't understand how to fold the hook element sideways and how to sew it. Can you explain this in other words than the instructions? I think the instructions are missing a sentence or a drawing. You say: fold 3/8" wrong sides together along the two long sides. The drawing only shows one fold. I don't understand this.

Simply elevates the garment

I am new to this but its amazing to be able to get away from ready pieces and create on your own. It opens up the possibilities. But I also wish there was an instruction video.

The pattern is nice, but I wish you also had a video on how you make a closure from scratch.
