A Step Up from an old 4000 Grit
My old stone had been worn down, chipped and then dropped off a table edge. I let the sales rep at Knifewear know that I was using it for Japanese knives as well as straight razors. They recommended this stone because the professional stones are a bit harder and would stand-up to the carbon steel I was sharpening. Their advice was excellent and brought my sharpening up a level.
