By Hand & Eye

Unbelievably enjoyable journey - i am a total newcomer to woodworking as a 54 year old man looking for purpose, enjoyment, and refinement of hand-eye coordination skills. As with all of my (enormous comlection of) Lost Art Press books, this volume is pleasing to hold, enjoyable to read, skillfully typeset, and an amazing concept to ponder. Lost Art Press has hit the “sweet spot” in terms of producing books that are pleasing to the touch, well-written and enjoyable to the eye in terms of font size and type, and intellectually stimulating without being overly technical or elitist. Truly, each book of theirs that I own is amazing in its own right - this one focuses on exactly what the title suggests: training your creative self to understand “aesthetics” and proportions so that you know WHY you like the appearance of beautufully and skillfully crafted woodworking pieces (and other forms of skilled craftsmanship and art).

I will be honest, I haven't started reading my selections from Lost Art Press, yet. I bought them with the intention of reading them very soon, when I will have some time on my hands.. I will say they were packaged very well, and the binding of the books gives them a very substantial feel. I am also happy to see that someone is preserving "the old ways" of craftsmanship for posterity.
