Maxlite® 5 Medium Check-In Rollaboard®

This purchase was made to replace an existing, heavy suitcase. We really appreciate that this size bag comes as a rollerboard style suitcase. It is necessary for our travel to European countries with cobblestone streets, because the large wheels really hold up trying to navigate the uneven surfaces. There is ample room for everything and the extra extension room will come in handy for bringing home gifts! The bag is lightweight, at just over 7 pounds it is half the weight of the luggage we replaced. With the airline strict restrictions on weight for all bags, it saves us money to use lightweight, yet sturdy Travelpro luggage. This is the second piece we have purchased in this style and size capacity. Our older one has made 4 international trips and still looks like new. Travelpro really holds up and is well constructed. We also have the rollerboard carry-on size suitcase. It is also perfect because of how lightweight it is and how easy it is to fit in the overhead compartment section of the aircraft. I appreciate this color option of the Travelpro bag. With so many bags on an international flight, it is far easier to spot our luggage from a distance because of the color.

Overall, I like how lightweight and sturdy this suitcase feels, and I really appreciate the flexibility of the soft-sided design. My two concerns are the practicality of the two-wheel design at this size and its performance in heavy rain. I specifically chose the two-wheel design to reduce the risk of wheel damage. After traveling with it, however, I found that two wheels are not as convenient on a suitcase this size. At airports, I often wanted to move it just a few inches while keeping it upright, but I had to tilt it every time. For a larger suitcase like this, four wheels might be more practical. I do really like the soft-sided design. It makes it easy to add or remove items without fully opening the suitcase. My biggest concern was the rain. After heavy rain at my connecting airport, the suitcase arrived very wet, and a few items inside were soaked. I had no liquids packed that could have leaked, so I suspect rainwater may have seeped in. Interestingly, most of the contents stayed completely dry.

I've enjoyed this medium size Travelpro suitcase for about 4 years. My husband decided that this size was something he wanted for our next trip. It works great for longer excursions while leaving plenty of room for any extras you might purchase while exploring the world! It's very light and I highly recommend it.
