Named after the Syrian city, the Aleppo pepper found its way along the Silk Road into kitchens and recipes across Central Asia. From Turkish kebabs to Uzbek lamb braises, and to the now-global phenomenon that is avocado toast, these pepper flakes add color, mild heat, and a unique salty-raisiny flavor.

Aleppo Peppers
These peppers add just the right amount of spice to my cooking. I use it for stews, eggs, mediterranean dishes....on and on.

My new favorite spice!
We like food with a little kick and Aleppo Pepper is just the ticket. It is not too hot. I started using it on the foods I use crushed red pepper but now use is on many things...just a little peppery layer. I don't run out!!!

Awesome Aleppo
I discovered this spice—and actually this website—thanks to Alton Brown. My favorite way to use it is mixed into hummus. It’s also great for kick in lamb meatballs. I think it’s a better alternative to crushed red pepper for any of my Mediterranean dishes. It brings just them right amount of warmth and glow to the mouth.
