Critical Piece of Hardware

This one makes the Skydio 2 platform actually usable. After my Skydio 2 being relegated to the back of my closet because I bought the beacon, this one unlocked a brand new way to do things.

Not the greatest

This is by far the least user friendly controller I've use. The range is absolutely horrible, and it feels as though is were made of cheap plastic. I bought this as a spare to keep on hand because I'm so afraid it could break at any moment. And the flimsy plastic joysticks are hard mounted, so you have to be extremely careful not to snap them off. The Skydio 2+ drone itself, however, is one my favorites to fly and my absolute favorite to use for mapping, but the controller leaves much to be desired.

Controller review

I purchased the starter kit without realizing that it did not come with the controller. It was my fault as there are pictures of the kit's contents and written descriptions that did not include the controller. That being said, having a handset that gives beginning pilots physical feedback is essential to learning good habits. I wish Skydio would include the controller in the starter kit. Also, I would love to see wheels instead of paddles for the gimbal controls, but that is a minor quip. Overall, I LOVE the drone and it has been a great purchase!
