Compare Old Trapper to M&S brand

I've been eating the Old Trapper Old Fashioned brand for a year now, so I decided to try an upscale (price-wise) brand to see what I was missing. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was not as impressed as I hoped to be. Perhaps my taste buds missed the extra preservative chems in the Old Trapper brand? I stretched out eating my 1/2 pound of M&S over time to adjust to the new flavor, and my taste buds appreciated it more, but the price ($57.83 for 2 - half pound flavors after shipping) is a one-time spend, let alone a subscription.

The original jerky is awesome. You rip off a piece and enjoy the flavor. If you’re wanting a healthier alternative to all of this soft stuff they sell in stores, this is it.

The taste was great, texture could be thicker and harder.

The taste was great, just not much to it other than salt and beef. I prefer a bit spicier jerky but to each his own. The texture was fine but a bit too thin for me. It fell apart with each bite and I prefer the harder stuff like the Old West jerky, which I also bought. Both are good but I prefer the Old West for taste as well as texture. Having tried a couple different styles of jerky from this company I would say they definitely know what they're doing and it's a great place to buy from!
