Pants Fitting Pattern Kit — Sew Pants That Fit

It's fun but not exactly what I thought it would be.

I purchased the pant and dress kit. I have only done the pants and it's still a work in progress. I'm a little confused regarding the expectations for the final fit of the master pattern. I was expecting it to be a somewhat form-fitting pant. Instead, the master pattern looks more like a pair of 1980s slacks. I'm not sure how to use this as a sloper when checking the fit of other pant patterns??
