Bezzera BB005 TM Espresso Grinder

Static.. Static and more static. No wonder it was the gimme item with the Bezzera Aria. It is not an improvement from what I already have. Will need to start spraying the beans to control the static. Not happy about it.

A Precise Grinder with a Steep Learning Curve

I purchased the Bezzera BB005 TM Espresso Grinder along with my Bezzera espresso machine, as it was recommended as a pair. After using it for just under a week, I have mixed impressions. Dialing in the correct grind for espresso has proven to be a slow and somewhat frustrating process. The adjustment mechanism allows for only very fine changes with each turn, which makes it time-consuming to move between grind settings. This level of precision may appeal to experienced users, but it is not particularly beginner-friendly and differs significantly from the commercial grinders I’ve worked with in the past. Additionally, I found the grinder to be somewhat messy in use. The design tends to scatter grounds during dosing, which detracts from the overall experience. While it may be a capable grinder in the right hands, I would recommend it primarily for those with patience and prior experience in dialing in espresso, rather than for newcomers seeking ease of use.

Grind Dial Label Reversed/Poor Design

Turning the knob in the direction of the “+” yields a finer grind. That is counterintuitive to me. I wasted a lot of beans before figuring this out. It’s also a very messy grinder. Even with a portafilter funnel it shoots grinds all over. The switch to engage sticks out too far and doesn’t allow you to get a portafilter under the shoot. I think you can do better for the money. It seems well built but overall a pretty poor design.
