The Kiridashi knife is wonderful! Super sharp out of the box. I wrapped the handle with some scrap veg tan I had laying around.

Cuts the thickest leather like butter

I bought some Hermann Oak to splits (stiff hand roughly 11-13 oz) to use as midsoles for some shoes that I was making, and was having a rough time cutting it on the floor on a self-healing mat with a break off blade knife. I decided to cut a panel off and go sit at my table with my Kiradashi Knife instead and almost cried at how easy it was to cut with it. It slid through the dry leather like butter. I did literally nothing to prepare it to be cut and you would think that I had soaked it for hours. I'm so pleased with this purchase and ready to replace every knife I own.
