The turf is okay. I've had Fiber Built turf in the past and there's a difference between the two, and there's a price difference. I have added a 1/2" thick foam surface under the turf as suggested by you and it makes a good hitting surface. The turf shifts after several driver swings and has to be realigned; the turf needs a base.
