A wooden spurtle is an important utensil for making the perfect porridge and dates back centuries. The cylindrical shape allows the oats to be stirred rather than be dragged by the head of a wooden spoon.
This helps to prevent lumps and the porridge sticking to it. This spurtle has been turned with a thistle shaped handle and tapered rod

This has not been used yet but I was very pleased with the delivery timescale. I'm looking forward to hearing what my husband thinks of it when he makes his breakfast.
