time saver
I have been building loft beds for my grandchildren and like the fact that I need only to sand to 150 grit. Also, only needing to apply a single coat of product helps to speed up the process. The sheen works well with the beds and seems to be holding up well under the stress of young boys. I did add a coating of paste wax to their desktops as an added measure to the durability but probably unnecessary. some habits die hard

A Great Match To An Existing Color
I made table to match an existing finished hutch. The Arabica nearly exactly matched the color of the existing hutch. I finished it off with SheenPlus since the hutch had a sheen finish. The application was very easy. This is my sixth project using Rubio Monocoat. Thank you for the great products and wide range of colors that allow matching.

EASY BUT EXPENSIVE!
I normally use a high quality Danish oil and wax. Of course, the use of oil requires more coats, time and sanding to achieve a really nice finish.
On this particular project, I used solid walnut. Finish sanding to 150-180 is nice. Rubio is surprisingly easy to work with. As you know walnut requires two coats. Still much easier than Danish oil. The biggest negative, controlling waste. The product is very expensive! For a natural finish, other products are available such as Osmos. Unless I’m using a tinted finish, I will definitely consider other options. Especially if they are more affordable. Rubio is no longer the only game in town.
