Single Edge Razors

The Branch isn't a razor for daily use, only for every other day.

The Branch is a solid evolution of the existing Twig and Thorn models. It’s great that the stand is finally included with the order. The Branch feels heavier, which allows for good control while shaving—a real plus. The blade loading mechanism is also very well designed. The head is largely identical to that of the Twig and Thorn. I have shaved with the Branch twice now: once using a Derby Extra blade and once with a Leaf blade. With the Derby Extra, the blade feel was very pronounced, and the shave wasn't comfortable. With the Leaf blade, the sensation was less intense but still clearly noticeable. The shaving results were good in both cases, though not perfect; achieving a truly close, smooth finish required multiple passes over the same area. For me, the Branch isn't a razor for daily use, but it is perfectly suited for shaving every other day.

This is my second Leaf razor. I bought LEAF because I wanted a single edge. The shape of the head is attractive and seemed well contoured. I’ve tried others that I was not happy with. After being very happy with a mild shave TWIG, I figured I would try this one mainly because the handle looked like it had gotten perfected in size, diameter and grip. And it is. Way better and feels amazing in hand. I love it. I also agree that this razor is not as mild as Twig but also not aggressive. It is truly balanced. It has just enough of an increase to make a difference and not go over board. I’ve tried adjustable double edge razors and was never satisfied in cut or handle. LEAF seems to have listened to feedback and nailed both. Also, I have sensitive skin and many razors cut me easily. So far LEAF has been the best with most often no cuts at all. Also I have a dimple and this style seems to be able to get in there and cut where none others have been able without bleeding me. I used to keep my plastic disposable with back edge just for that spot. Not anymore. Very happy with this one and with Leaf.

Branch - for the win!

I already have the Thorn and Twig, so I wondered if I really would find this new Branch to be different enough to be worth it. IT IS! I have used it three times now. I especially like the grip with the added heft and I find it is easy to control. Before the Branch, I tended to favor the Thorn over the Twig for the extra closeness. Fortunately, the Branch seems similar enough to the Thorn's closeness that I really feel it will be the preferred choice going forward. I will keep the Thorn going in the house's second bathroom though, so it is not retired quite yet. I also tried the new Leaf Two razor, but ended up returning it since I only shave my face, and find that these single edge razors are better for me at least.
