Even though I’ve never had hotteok before the smell feels like a memory. Maybe the spices of brewed cider, or spice cookies? It’s an airy arrangment of spices that I associate with baking sweets. It also reminds me of instant chai mix.
It isn’t as sweet as I expected, but it doesn’t smell herbal, or savory at all. There’s just enough sweetness mixed in that it leans into that baked goods scent I associate with it.
