Grocery store outing—60 going back to 30!!
I have never written a perfume review before, but after what happened to me I honestly felt like I had to.
First of all, I’m a 60 year old woman. I’m not an influencer, I’m not on Instagram promoting products, and nobody is paying me to say this. I’m pretty much retired, my kids are raised, and I’m happily enjoying my husband, my dog, my hobbies, football season and life.
I recently tried Henry Rose for the first time and layered London 1983 with Queens & Monsters. Then I headed to the grocery store for what I thought would be a quick grocery run.
I’m walking through the produce department when one of the employees comes over and bumps my elbow to get my attention. He holds out his arm and the hair on his arm is literally standing up with goosebumps. He says, “Look what your scent just physically did to my arms!” Then he tells me he has never smelled anything better. He even says, “I’m a happily married man and you’re a happily married woman, and marriage has nothing to do with appreciating a beautiful scent. It should be noted.”
I walked away laughing and smiling because I don’t think anyone has ever reacted to the way I smelled quite like that before.
Then I go down the next aisle.
There are two gentlemen there, I walk past them and they both turn their heads. One of them actually circles back, taps me and says, “I have never done this before, but what are you wearing? I need to go home and buy it for my wife.”
At this point I’m thinking, good grief, did I accidentally put on WAY too much perfume?
Then I get to the checkout counter and the checker tells me, “Oh, you smell lovely today.” And then the woman behind me asks what I’m wearing!
Now I’m literally laughing. I’m thinking either I sprayed so much of this stuff on myself that everyone is just being polite, or I need to take the compliments, go home and write my very first perfume review.
So here I am.
That 60 year old woman walked into the grocery store for a quick grocery run and apparently smelled good enough to stop half the store. I swear I walked out feeling like I was in my 30s again.
I have worn Henry Rose every single day since. Sometimes I layer London 1983 and Queens & Monsters, and sometimes I wear them individually, and I continue to get compliments.
But maybe my favorite part is that even on the days when I don’t go anywhere and it’s just me and my dog hanging around the house until my husband gets home, I still put it on.
Because I’ve discovered I don’t need somewhere to go or anyone around to tell me I smell good. I just love sitting there surrounded by this beautiful scent.
Michelle Pfeiffer and Henry Rose, you have officially turned a woman who never writes perfume reviews into someone who just wrote one.
