The bundle is a mix of palatable and unpalatable... I'd give a 2.5 if that rating was available, details below...
OK, as a former maker of many different batches and types of spirits from scratch (mostly brandies and whiskeys) I might be a bit more picky, but blending is my thing, so I think I have something to say.
The best of this bunch is the Free Spirits Gin, although they would have done well to bump up the essence of juniper berry and [maybe even a touch o' cardamom] to give a more gin taste. Still, I give it a 4 out of 5, as it is somewhat drinkable straight and does a nice job adding to a cocktail.
The Aperitivo doesn't really sit well on it's own, but a touch does add to a non-etoh cocktail, so I'd give that somewhere between a 3.5 and 4.
The Free Spirits Tequila is way to vegetal but adds a kick into a non-etoh cocktail, although the vegetal aftertaste can't be covered up by the pepper... I'd give it a 3 out of 5.
I'd give the Free Spirits Bourbon: a 2 out of 5, as it tasted like something went wrong in this bottle (perhaps?) and has the unpleasant essence of burnt broccoli (and a tinge of burnt appliance). Mixing it doesn't help but rather tinges the cocktail... Not even sure if I can give it away (sorry)...
I'd have happily traded up the Tequila and Bourbon for bottles of the Free Spirits Gin if I had the chance. Then my rating would be higher...
