Bought these for a break cue, I don't really care for the feel of phenolic on phenolic. Bought the black ones. The rounded surface (striking surface) seemed a slightly different layer, most likely caused by the dye before the tip being punched out. I liked the stippled texture and radius, so I didn't dress it down. Broke once and noticed a black stain on the cue ball. It was very difficult to remove. So I radiuused the tip removing this darker layer and since not leaving marks on the cue ball. Word of advice.
