Connection Issues

PROS: The Hub 2 is much better than using a relay as a hub. This hub has a good range and the soft buttons are nice as being be able to be programmed making it a nice way display and button at a location. The Hub has its own sensors on the cable. Good and bad as the sensor is not interfered by the cable length is not interchangeable and neither is the length. There are no mounting holes though. The hub bridges the Meter Pro well. The display brightness adapts to the room brightness. The blinds tilt motors are not loud, a low whirling sound. All adapters and mounting strips are included for install. The blinds tilt are nice when they are connected and working. The Matter over Wi-Fi integration through the Hub 2 works well and haven't had stability connection stability issues like the garage relay does. However, it is still slow to connect to the blinds. CONS: I am on my second set with each set having storage issues. The included solar panels with the blind tilts sometimes show it's charging but even with the sun on that side of the property, it doesn't really seem to charge. After a few days, there was no percentage increase in the battery even though it says charging during the day. It sometimes doesn't register that the panels are connected but usually do within Switchbot app itself. The blind tilts are slow to connect remotely even through the Switchbot app. I had a few times where it showed an error that it couldn't sync. Currently, the routines fail to communicate with a fifteenth Blind Tilt device. Support has said that on the back end, they see that it's going through the garage relay, which is 30+ feet away and not the Hub 2 that's 5-9 feet away and I'm standing 2 feet away. The Hub 2 configuration is a bit confusing. For Matter, I could choose which devices are shared/hosted by the hub. But when Matter wasn't setup, I could not tell or configure which devices that the Hub or relay were hosting just to the Switchbot app. The Hub 2 can host up 8 devices to Matter, but each button on the Hub 2 each take up a spot if you wanted to assign a routine outside of Switchbot, leaving only 6 shots for bridging Bluetooth only devices. The temperature and humidity also take up a Matter allocation each and not as a single device. None of the other readings from the Hub 2 (i.e. luminance and CO2) are available via Matter. The display turns on and off with the buttons and activating a routine. I still haven't quite figured out how to use the buttons to trigger a routine without affecting the display. The blind tilts don't hold the turning rod straight despite using the template. I was able to twist the double sided tape done but it's still a bit off looking for the ones with OCD. Even when they're straight, they twist on the stick mount and are angled again in a few days.

Automated blind tilting is wonderful!

I thought that since I had blinds with a rope pulley system for tilting I couldn’t get them automated. When I learned I could swap out the rope pulley system for a rod twist blind tilt mechanism I did so and got the SwitchBot Blind Tilt Matter Combo and installed that on top of the rods. Now my bedroom blinds open and close with the daily sunrise and sunset times via the SwitchBot Hub 2! So thankful to have the blind tilt automation I always wanted!

Blind Tilt with Alexa

The instructions for the blind tilts were good and the install was pretty easy. The Matter install was a little less intuitive but once it connected it worked well. Setting up a scene and connecting to Alexa was also easy. Now my blinds open in the morning and close at dusk with no issues
