Cool jacket! No pockets?

Got this jacket in a medium. I thought I would need a large based on the size chart, but I would say you should size down if you're not sure. The front outer pockets on the jacket I received are not functional. This is different than what the description and pictures made it seem. It's also quite strange to have nowhere to put your hands in a jacket like this. Maybe I got a bad one? Maybe just a design flaw? Otherwise, I really like it.
