Actually, 4.8 Stars. Just put these boots to the test in King Salmon Alaska for a week. Right out of the box they were comfortable. My foot feels very secure in the boot. It's more fitted than other boots I've wore. It has a fit more similar to an athletic shoe or sneaker than a traditional wading boot. Good arch support but not crazy high and a snug but not tight fit in the heel that really reduced slippage. Hiking in them felt very nature. They a bit heavier than my last pair of boots but not uncomfortably so. They feel and seem to be built solid. The sole had solid traction while I was wading in some slick rivers with strong current up to my hips. Cleats would have been even better, but I could feel the traction from the sole alone. I'm on the fence with the burrito wrap ankle quite frankly. Getting in and out of the boot with this design is nice. It opens up wide and there are less "moving parts". BUT, I struggled to keep the laces tied and even hooked for some reason. And getting them to it comfortably around my ankle also was a bit of a challenge. Once I got the tightness figured out, they were good. Except that 30 minutes later they laces had come off of the little hook islets and all the laces were coming untied. This happened everyday so I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong, but I did experiment and tie the laces differently a number of times and never had this issue with conventionally laced wading boots. Maybe Skwala could offer some advice? In the end, they were extremely comfortable especially since I wore them 6 days straight for 8hrs a day right out of the box. I'm also hoping the ankle wrap/burrito will soften up with time. Its stiff and a bit bulky.

I bought them specifically for hiking to amd wet wading smaller mountain streams. I paired them with grips studs and the traction is incredible. My Orvis Pro Waders have an over sized stocking so i have to wear thiner socks with them but all in all the Carbon wading boots are a great product and highly recommend them!

Perfect wading boots for a high alpine angler. I’ve been surprised how they can grip on rocks and I bought Grip Gear studs to compliment them for extra mossy rocks if needed.
