Surprise favorite

I predominantly purchase candles for Halloween. As such, I typically purchase scents that match the central themes of Halloween: musky, smokey, spices, anything that accentuates a dark atmosphere. Despite initial hesitance due to the strong references to fruity smells, of which I'm not typically not a fan, I have found a new favorite. The musk base they reference, is oddly predominate, but by no means masks the citrus and fruit odors. While I would normally expect the scents to conflict, leaving it to either be exclusively some unpleasant spring scent or purely a conventional musk scent, they complement one another in a way that somehow manages a unique Halloween appropriate scent. It's hard to identify any particular imagery that it invokes, though the closest I can think of would be something of a German fairy tale such as Hansel and Gretel. Family members have stated it reminds them of something similar to a marsh, with nearby vines of foreboding fruit. The sweetness *is* present, but enveloped by the musk and powder, creating an almost spooky or unsettling counterpoint the citrus based sweetness. It somehow manages to very much still envelop a Halloween atmosphere. From the description alone I wouldn't have thought it could fit Halloween so well. I'm very happy I took a chance on this. It's found its place as a unique Halloween favorite for me.
