Mid-season, Rocambole type. German Red is a full-bodied, strong and spicy garlic that reliably produces large, satiny white and purple heads. The easy-to-peel cloves are wrapped in fawn-colored skins. A widely popular variety that sets the standard for true garlic flavor. Grows particularly well in colder regions of the country.

Great Looking Bulbs
Bulbs arrived from TSC in great condition, no deformities or visible defects. They were a nice size and felt solid. Easy to separate for planting this fall. Will have to wait for 2026 season for harvest for a final review!

German Red Garlic Review
We planted German Red in the past and we were happy with the results, so we planted again this past October. The garlic came up at 100% and the starts are now 4" tall end of December. We should be able to harvest them in June as is the usual timing here in the North Willamette Valley.
