I have taken a few hits from various parts of a surfboard over the years. Lucky, I have not had any serious injuries. I am not a risk taker anyway, but I realized that I am overly worried about getting hit in the head when I get rag-dolled. The forehead and low wrap-around ear and cheek protection this helmet provides gives me peace of mind. The fit is great even with a hood and water flows right out. But the best part is, it doesn't make me look like a kook!
