Just discovered Emerson knives and im totally hooked on the build quality and simplicity of these heavy duty tools. This is a formula that works! My new mini cqc-7bw has been an outstanding companion on my recent winter comping outing. I was able to easily deploy it with gloves on and accomplish all my cutting tasks which ranged from fire building to food prep. I originally chose the smaller footprint of the mini thinking it would be a great secondary knife - but its turning out to be used as my main knife due to how easy it is to deploy from my pocket. Its like the Mike Tyson of knives - no fancy robes or flair in the ring - just a basic hard-use powerhouse.

Love this knife
I’ve been wanting one of these for 15 to 20 years. I am not disappointed, but wish I bought one when I originally stumbled across it. The wave feature makes things so much easier.

A good knife, but choose wisely
This is my second review. I posted the first one just based on my initial inspection, but not with the benefit of use. After using it, I think it still deserves five stars based on design, materials and workmanship, but I'm writing to caution folks about buying this (or any of the chisel-bladed models) as a first or only knife. In use, the blade will always tend to drift away from the beveled side, which can be either an advantage or disadvantage. If using it to mark a line on a piece of lumber tight up against your straight edge, or prune a shoot tight up against the trunk of a tree, or sharpen a pencil, or strip insulation from a wire, this style blade is your go-to! On the other hand, it'll require a disappointing amount of concentration to perform an otherwise simple task like neatly cutting a straight line to open a cardboard box. I asked the folks at Emerson if I could pay to have the blade swapped out for a different one, but it's not possible, so choose wisely if this is going to be your first or only good knife, or if you're giving it as a gift.
