Ice Screw Cannon Insert Sleeve

Great for quick objectives and CR kit storage

We love these smaller sleeves for our ice screws that go out on courses. no more dinged up screws rolling around the bottom of duffel bags, they are riding in style to the trailhead. They also work great as intended inside the ice screw cannons, especially when you want a couple spares.

The only thing would be to add a zip or Velcro closure pocket for spare ice tool picks, wrenches etc. placed outside the Canon would be fine.

Slick Design for a Tricky Problem

I have long struggled to find the best way to carry ice screws while ice guiding and climbing in Vermont. For years, I went with screws caps in a crampon case but this is awkward, prone to losing caps (not very LNT) and doesn’t protect the shafts of the screws. With aluminum shaft screws becoming more ubiquitous, I changed to a big roll style case for last winter and while it protected the shafts, it was heavy, screws would fall out, and it would look like a lopsided bouquet of flowers fully packed. The Ice Screw Cannon solves many of these problems vexing climbers for years. It’s light, durable, and designed to fit in a winter pack seamlessly. It minimizes getting stabbed by screws in your pack and tearing your gear. While it is not too troublesome to put each screw in individually, for those “let’s scram quick” de-rigs it is easy to toss all the screws in to deal with later. My only hesitations about this bag are that it is still on the bulky side if only bringing a few screws (ie mixed climbs or alpine routes) and how it can pick up snow in the pocket, not typically an issue with the roll style holders. I think for classic ice cragging days, its pretty hard to beat this cannon style and excited to put it further through the ringer.
