Built for anglers who don’t dabble, the Fish River is a tip-flex, fast-action freshwater rod that thrives when there’s work to be done. Light in hand but heavy on performance, it loads quickly, fires tight loops, and delivers the kind of power that turns long days on the water into something you wish lasted longer.

Great big river, heavy fly and streamer rod
Return customer. I am very happy with the rod. I prefer a fast action rod for the windy conditions and heavy flies on the Yakima. The details and the quality of the rod are strong, and it fits the role very well. When I’ve called, the folks have been very willing to talk and easily reachable.

Sheer Perfection with Class
I fell in love with this rod a week or so back when I received it but only have had a chance to cast it as of today. I mostly fish 2,3,and 4 wt. rods for trout and have built a nice collection of the wonderful work from the Maine Fly Company to cover that niche. This rod was purchased not to much as a trout rod but a rod for creek fishing for Smallmouth bass and panfish on our smaller Pennsylvania streams along with smaller flies and poppers. I’ve been fishing a 5wt. for this purpose for years and it has worked out well especially with species and conditions dedicated fly lines available today. I paired the Orvis Mirage LT III reel with this rod, and it balances to perfection making casting more relaxing and comfortable. I chose the Rio elite Predator floating line to handle the slightly larger flies and poppers required for this purpose and with my own hand-tied leaders, turn over quite nicely. With the fall, cooler weather and water, I’m looking forward to much time with this beautiful combination of rod and reel in hand. I’m buying a second spool for the reel with a more appropriate trout related line for streamers and larger terrestrials for fishing my larger streams and spring creeks. Yet another handcrafted beauty from the Maine Fly Company……

Our second Maine Fly Company rod
I'm loving it so far. Been using nymphs and streamers chasing little rainbows. Bigger fish on drys will be coming soon.
