THE LEATHER
A deep dark java brown, almost black color, this waxed flesh or "rough out" leather has a waxed finish, applied during the tanning process, making it extremely durable to most elements, with water-resistant characteristics. Meant to age over time with a patina that portrays the "rough out" side of the hide, the wax will fade o
I've only worn my JWF plain toe boots 1x since receiving them. They look and feel really good while wearing them. The fit is consistent with the other 2-3 pair of Truman plain toe boots on the casual last. Specifically, there's plenty of volume in the toe box. Sometimes it almost feels like too much volume, but I'd rather have more wiggle room for my toes than for them to be tightly scrunched.
If / when I become overly concerned about the volume, I am sure I'll be able to find an insert (insole) to eliminate the issue.

Good looks and quality
Boots look great. Quality seems top notch. Stitching, heels, and hardware are all good and even. This is my first pair of Truman boots and, so far, I am happy with the purchase. These boots will take quite a bit of break in as the leather is very thick and stiff. That is not a knock on the boots, just a fact for this style boot. I do wish these had a pull tab at the back. Pictures I saw online had a pull tab but the ones I received do not. Not a big deal though. I have had other boot brands in the past where the tab ends up breaking so not worried that these don't have one. I have seen several reviews that complain about quality but I simply don't see any issues with the quality and workmanship on this pair. I will be doing a lot of walking on an upcoming trip in these and will try to update this review after I put some miles on them.
