Provides greater utility
I have the Arc Haul Ultra 60 Backpack that I used for the first time this season in the California Sierra. It came with the standard single strap closure, but since I mainly backpack where bear canisters are required, I decided to switch to the V-strap, so I have the option to carry the bear can on top of my pack and secure it with the V-strap. Optionally, I can use it to lash down other gear if I want to, and I feel it provides a more secure fit. I'm happy with it.
