Great helmet, trash visor
The alterra is hands down the best DH-rated enduro helmet out there. It’s a shame that the breakaway visors are overly fragile. The lugs could be MUCH stronger while still breaking away during a real crash. Yesterday I slightly washed out, and ended up on my hands and knees, with my visor slightly brushing the ground/brush. It broke with the slightest touch.
To add insult to injury, these things are insanely priced. It’s a $1 injection molded part at the volumes 6D is making them, maybe $2-$3 cost after paint/logos. They could sell these for $10 and still make a hefty profit. If the price of these remains high, I’ll be looking elsewhere for my next premium-priced helmet.

6D to the Rescue!
Broke my visor on my last day at Whistler. I went to the 6D website to order a replacement and had it in a week. Love the Alterra!
