Rip-Strip HD Rope Protector

There are two rope protectors for sale at Avant, I got the longer beefier one and I love it. It does work as described, with one hand, easy peasy. Where I mostly climb (the Pinnacles in California), I think it might be even better to have two of them, as the anchors are often way far back and there are essentially two points of contact between rope and rock. The way I use the device is to connect it to the rope right by the anchor, and as I start rapping, I 'drag' it with me until I find the best placement. I stop dragging and continue rapping.

The rope pro is easy to install. I like the carabiner that keeps the two pieces together when you take them apart while also keeping the protector on the rope. The rope grab holds rope really well while allowing you to remove the pro when you want.

Very durable and easy to use! A must have for top rope solos!
