What really surprised me is how much the suspension in the Coastal helps when I’m riding seated. On a hardtail, every root and rock usually translates straight up through the seat, but the suspension takes the edge off those bumps noticeably. It makes staying seated through chunky sections way more comfortable, which is huge since I don’t have rear suspension to lean on.
The Coastal’s action is smooth and reliable, and the Loam Lever pairs perfectly with it, intuitive feel and easy to actuate mid-ride without thinking about it. Installation was straightforward and the build quality on both pieces shows.
Honestly, I’d run this setup on every hardtail I own going forward. It’s that good. Highly recommend to anyone on the fence about adding a dropper to their hardtail, it’s not a gimmick, it genuinely changes how you ride.

Like the fact that it's a suspension post within a dropper. Dislike the fact that it's not as responsive to smaller bumps as a spring.
