Black Ada spade are the best on the market The first thing that stands out is the build quality. It feels solid and well made without being ridiculously heavy, which is important when you’re carrying it around a field for several hours. The blade is strong and makes light work of reasonably tough ground, while still being compact enough to use without making a huge hole. The size is one of the things I particularly like. It’s big enough to get a decent plug out but manageable when you’re working around a signal and trying to recover a target carefully. The pointed design also makes it easier to get into harder ground. For me, a detecting spade needs to be strong, dependable and comfortable to use, and the Black Ada ticks all three boxes. It’s not the cheapest spade on the market, but with detecting equipment I’d rather buy something that is going to last than keep replacing cheaper tools. Overall: 9/10 A really good detecting spade that I’d happily recommend to other detectorists. Solid, reliable and built for the job.
