Nicely made but packed in so tightly

Of course I hope I will never need this but we hike miles into the mountains and it will work if needed. Shipping was super fast and the company has great communication. I opened it to familiarize ourselves with the fit and feel, as recommended. It took me 15 minutes to get it out of the pouch that it packs into- I felt like I was going to tear the netted fabric so I gingerly pulled out a little at a time. There is no way that this will ever go neatly back into the zippered pouch- the pouch is way too small of a design. I will have to buy a larger zippered pouch to keep it in. Even if I did cram it in, I don’t want to spend 15 minutes trying to get it out again if I had a doggie emergency. The cattle dog does not like it. I told her it was only for emergencies. I bought a small for my 38lb border/cattle mix, based on the chart for her girth. I think I should have bought a medium because her body seems too long for it. If you are bordering the small/medium, I would size up. It’s very good quality and easy to put on and adjust. My only complaint is the misrepresentation about it being so small because I don’t believe anybody can repack it into the pouch. That is why 4stars. That demonstration should be on a video.

i got it in case we have to. we have so wild fires right now in Colorado better than safe then sorry & we cab share it if some needed it. it's compact & easy to use plus it's versatile front or back use. price was very good. we always use Ruff Wear & have for many years even handing them down from one dog to another. i would tell everyone to get this back back just in case if hike with your dog or emergency evac situation. Ruff Wear products are awesome!!

Good “Just In Case” Item For Your Pack!

Added to the pack for longer day hikes; can be a bit tricky to take out of pouch, and definitely practice and get dog(s) used to it being set up on them. A good piece of gear in case of injury in the trail!
