DITA Audio Project M | Hybrid Dynamic + BA Universal IEMs

I can hear clearly now…

I’m one of those guys that have problems with those upper treble areas, and sibilance. I was prepared to send these back if any of that hit me, but I didn’t have to. I picked specifically sibilant tracks for some casual listening, and I never even noticed that none of it bothered me. They really did deliver a treble-ended gift to me. I then handed the iems over to my Shanling H5 to play random tracks for me and there were no surprises other then crystal clear sound. Vocals were right in front of me, kick drums were punchy, and cymbals, tambourines, and lead guitars had the spark I’ve been afraid of. I didn’t hear anything that would trigger my sensitivity. Additionally, the Project M had a fairly wide soundstage, and great separation. As I changed filters for roll off, I noticed the way some notes would hang, and I’ve had these ears for over 60 years!!! I can hear this stuff again!!! I can’t afford those mega buck iem’s, but this is one of those sets that don’t make me regret being poor. I stopped listening critically long enough to realize I enjoy just listening to the music. I will continue listening with these for pure enjoyment. The pairing with neutral to warm sources would be a nice choice for these, and they don’t require much power to drive them.

Way better than some have said

When the Project M first appeared, I did what anyone would do, and checked YouTube for all the reputable reviewers. Strangely, there were some who said it sounded like a $1000+ IEM, and others who said it was a screeching mess not worth getting at any price. I ended up passing on it because of this. I would always come across the Project M when browsing IEMs though, and always found it weird that they put so much effort and care in a quality hard case made in Germany, a quality cable made with Cardas wire, Final E ear tips, and an IEM build and design rivaling other IEMs at any price……..yet they dropped the ball on the sound? They used the same expertise in the single dynamic drivers of their mega buck IEMs to make the custom dynamic driver for the Project M, and used a high end branded BA driver to enhance the highs. So I went to YouTube to watch all the reviews again, good and bad. That’s when I saw it. All the bad reviews had tuning graphs that didn’t match Dora’s. The Project M literally has its graph printed on the front of the box. The bad reviews had not only a completely different graph, with a weird peak in the highs, but they all had the EXACT SAME wrong graph. I think Dita had the horrible luck of sending out a bad batch of review units to reviewers, or a single bad tour unit made its way to all of them. Whichever happened, I decided to take a chance on the Project M…..and boy am I glad. With quality sound sources, it really does sound amazing. The details are astounding, and the imaging just as good. This is not a bass head set, but it has beautiful, quality, layered bass. If I bump up the bass a bit on my tube preamp, it performs exceptionally on bass heavy songs, games, or movies. Considering the quality of the IEM and accessories, I found the price to be a steal. To be clear, I don’t blame those who gave these a bad review. Their graph clearly shows they received a bad unit. As with anything though, these aren’t perfect. Their biggest con is that their amazing detail and quality drivers require a quality source and plenty of power to shine. If you plan to plug these into a laptop jack, or a phone jack (or Apple dongle), don’t bother getting these. They won’t sound much better than a cheaper budget set. If you use a serious dongle, like the DC Elite, etc…..,or a desktop setup like my tube preamp and class A headphone amp, then you will get the high end IEM experience at an affordable price.
