Altere

There are layers upon layers of texture here. The pepper and incense adds an atmospheric haze that is impressively light. Orris adds a dry and mottled feel, much like the pebbled surface of its beautiful cap. As the hours pass, a faint glow of suede-like osmanthus peers through. Sweetness from patchouli and amber reveal itself through the smoky remnants of incense and burning resins. Like lips grazing that never meet for a kiss, this journey has felt like the agony of longing for something you could never have. This is a striking beauty that conjures a melancholic yearning.

I sampled Altere when it was still Fatale and fell head over heels. A love letter to pepper, a lot of pepper, that slowly reads into something aged and haunted. A new take on church in a market saturated with "churchy" fragrances. This is stunning and original in every way.
