Honing stones are an essential part of tool maintenance. Our chisels and plane blades gradually dull through use. But the very act of sharpening those can damage the honing stones we use, creating gouges in the surface that make the surface of the stone uneven. The more uneven they become, the less effective they are.

At this point, I have only tried it a few minutes and can see that it’s going to do its intended task. I have several stones that need to be reconditioned and I think this flattening stone is going to be the fix for those stones, and a method to keep them in shape from here on out. Thank you.
