Backwing - Deep Forest

Was waiting for the 45 days to be up before reviewing but after 2 weeks of solid play, I’ve already decided it was a keeper! I had my eye on one of these for a while and took the plunge on a b-stock. The Baum Backwing is a great guitar. From the moment you pick it up, the build quality and attention to detail are obvious. It feels solid, well balanced and beautifully finished, while still being comfortable enough to play for long sessions. It worked straight out of the box and the set up was great. I love the look and feel of the Backwing and tonally, it is extremely versatile. It has plenty of clarity and definition, but there’s also enough warmth and character to keep the sound from feeling sterile. Everything from the hardware to the fretwork and electronics feels thoughtfully chosen and well put together. Overall, the Baum Backwing is a beautifully made, highly playable and genuinely distinctive guitar. If you’re looking for something a little different from the usual mainstream designs, while still wanting a serious professional-quality instrument, the Backwing is very easy to recommend!

Very beautiful color; the back of the neck also shows beautiful wood grain. Not too heavy. The sound, in my opinion, is somewhere between a humbucker and a single pickup.

As promised, my Backwing was perfectly set up right out of the gig bag. Very playable instrument. So much in fact, that I think I might want to get myself another Baum at some point. Highly recommended.
