This coffee comes from the Karo Highlands area, and is processed using a unique method called "wet-hulling" to accelerate the drying time in Indonesia's wet climate. That process gives Sumatra its signature intense earthy flavors of cedar, tobacco, and rich, sweet chocolate which we focus on by roasting it dark.

Rare Find in the Triangle
Few if any roasters in the area seem to be willing offer a straight up Sumatran roast. Cultivate not only has filled this gap but also done a great job with a medium dark roast with all fine qualities that only Sumatra coffee possess for me: low acid, earthy, great body and none of that fruity/chocolate business of the African beans that just tastes sour to me. Love supporting local roasters knowing that the beans I'm receiving are small-batch, recently roasted and at the peak of flavor! Highly recommend.
